Creating and making drinks are exciting and rewarding, especially when done so with family and friends! Often though the process can be messy and results substandard, as working with sticky ingredients like honey and sugar can go wrong quite quickly.
Trying to incorporate unique pure flavours into these adds another hurdle and more often than not, gets quite expensive too.Getting tired of seeing shop shelfs filled with sickly flavouring syrups that use unnatural flavourings and colourings, a veteran bar personality in Sydney set his sights to solve these issues in hopes that both professional bartenders and home enthusiasts could create their own unique cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails with ease and purity.
Our founder Taka launched Handy Syrups in the post COVID-19 world (first round) in early 2021 utilising his extensive experience in the drinks world.
He has worked his way through Sydney's top cocktail bars and restaurants across his 13 year (and counting!) career and has been influenced by flavours from both Australia that he calls life's home, and Japan which he calls his spiritual home.
From saffron to vanilla, mandarin to yuzu, some of these flavours and ingredients can get very expensive and often hard to source in the desired quantities. Skip the shop around and head straight to Handy Syrups.
All syrups are based on Taka's recipes which he's utilised in many successful years of cocktail bartending. They have been tweaked and redeveloped across an entire year to become shelf stable and home friendly.
Our syrups shine through in a wide variety of needs, from a simple soda mix beverage, three/four ingredient cocktails/mocktails, and to twists on salad dressings and baking.
